ינואר 6, 2011סגן שר החוץ דני אילון מגונן באתר שלו על ההחלטה להקמת וועידת חקריה על מקורות המימון של NGO'S בארץ. הוא מנסה להתמם ומציג את הוועידה כשוות ערך ל America’s Foreign Agents Registration Act שדורש מסוכנויות של ממשלות זרות או אירגונים פוליטים זרים לחשוף מידע על פעילותם (בקצרה כמובן). שני דברים בעניין:
א. הבעיה היא המילים "סוכן זר", אני ממש לא משוכנע שארגוני השמאל עונים על ההגדרה הזאתי.
ב. כשישראל הכירה את America’s Foreign Agents Registration Act ב-1962-1963 וגם ממש לא מזמן ב-2004.
השאלה שלי לדני היא, האם הוא מתכוון למה שהתכוונו האמריקאים כאשר הם הציגו לישראל את החוק?
WASHINGTON — As the Department of Justice intensifies its investigation of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Jewish communal leaders fear that the goal of the probe is to compel the powerful lobbying organization to register as a “foreign agent” representing the government of another country.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential organizations on Capitol Hill, Aipac is registered with Congress as a lobbying group. Under American law, registering as a foreign agent would require Aipac to provide significantly more detailed information about its aims and activities to the government — thereby robbing the group of a key weapon: the ability to operate behind the scenes.
Such a change would severely weaken the organization’s influence and fuel charges of dual loyalties against Jewish groups, communal observers said.
“I think that from the start, this is what [the investigation] was all about,” said Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. “It doesn’t take very much to start an investigation — all it needs is a legitimate complaint by somebody that there is a violation of the law.”
Many in Washington who are hostile to Israel and the Jewish community would love to discredit Aipac, Foxman said. “So I see this as a broad fishnet operation,” he added, “which may possibly result in something relating to foreign agent registry, rather than spying.”
The concerns come just weeks after the FBI raided Aipac’s office and four of the group’s top officials were subpoenaed by a grand jury. For months, the federal probe was believed to center on allegations that Aipac officials might have illegally passed classified documents on to Israel, which they received from a Pentagon employee, Larry Franklin. In recent weeks, media reports have surfaced suggesting that the FBI used Franklin to entrap officials at the pro-Israel lobby.
Aipac officials have vehemently denied any wrongdoing. Now some supporters are suggesting that the real goal of investigators is to clip Aipac’s wings by forcing it to operate under the strict limits applied to agents of foreign governments.

נובמבר 30, 2010מי שמכיר אותי מכיר גם את התמיכה הגורפת שלי בבניית כורי תרבית. היתרונות ברורים ואין צורך להרחיב עליהם, אך החסרונות כמעט ולא מועלים לדיון. לפני כמעט שנה נתקלתי במאמר ב Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists שאמור לפרט את החסרונות. אחרי שקראתי את המאמר בזמנו ולא הסכמתי עם הרבה ממה שכתוב בו חשבתי לכתוב פוסט על העניין, אבל אני עצלן ועסוק, מה שלא גורע מהחשיבות של הכרת הטיעונים כנגד כורי תרבית.

Activision הוציאה פרסומת למשחק Call of duty: black ops. הרעיון הכללי של הפרסומת הוא שבכל אחד יש את החייל החבוי בו. אם זאת נשמעת לכם טענה דבילית, זה כנראה בגלל שהיא באמת כזאת. מה שקורה בפועל הוא שבעצם כולם פשוט אוהבים לשחק, זה לפחת מה שיגיד לכם אחד החברים שלי שלמד משחקולוגיה (כן יש דבר כזה).
ואם כבר משחקים אז למה לא ללמוד בדרך. הלומדות היום כבר לא מתעסקות רק בלימוד מקצועות כמו מתמטיקה ושפות, אלא, גולשת גם לתחומים כמו ניהול סכסוכים, התנגדות לא אלימה, זכויות אדם. תפוצה גרעינית ועוד. אותי זה ממש מלהיב לראות נושאים חדשים שמוצגים לילדים באמצעות משחקים ואני רוצה להציג כאן שני משחקים.
המשחק הראשון פותח על-יד הבנק העולמי והוא למעשה רשת חברתית שבה לכל אדם יש אווטאר גיבור-על, עם סיפור כיסוי, חלונות חשמליים וכל מה שבא בחבילה של להיות גיבור-על. בכל יום שלישי (אם אני לא טועה) יוצא קול קורא לכלל משתתפי הרשת החברתית להשתתף בפתרון בעיה דוחקת אחרת בעולם. האתגר מפורסם בצורת קומיקס ובכדי להתגבר עליו יש לעבור מספר שלבים הכוללים: למידה ויישום.בין התרחישים המוצגים במשחק: נפילה כלכלית בקופה הפוסט קומוניסטית, מחסור במזון ביפן, בעיות עקב הצפות בלונדון ועוד. המשחק נקרא EVOKE והוא ממש מוצלח.

המשחק השני הוא A Force More Powerful – הוא כלי ללמוד דרכי התנגדות לא אלימות דרך משחק. המשחק מבוסס על עשרה תרחישים (בעלי ביסוס היסטורי). האסטרטגיות והטקטיקות שהשחקן משחק מפעיל במשחק ייושמו גם הם באירועים אמיתיים. מה עוד חנון יכול לבקש ??
